Good Pet Care PSA

In addition to giving us unconditional love and friendship, research shows our pets provide us with many health benefits. Pets can keep us active and healthy, lower our stress, lift our spirits, and keep us from feeling lonely. In return, they need us to give them plenty of love and attention. Loneliness and boredom often cause pets to develop unwanted behaviors, which sometimes lead a family to surrender the pet to a shelter. Too often we see dogs living their lives at the end of a chain because their guardians are too busy to make time for them. It’s also important that we provide our pets with nutritious food, clean water and shelter, exercise, and proper medical care.

If you're considering adopting a pet, get more information about finding a suitable animal for your home and lifestyle. Make sure you're willing to be a responsible pet guardian. Think before you adopt - it's a lifelong commitment. Call 1-888-PETS-911 for more information.

Animal Abuse PSA

Animal abuse is a serious crime. That's why it's a felony in most states and the District of Columbia. Researchers show that people who harm others often have a history of abusing animals. We need to identify children who hurt animals and help them. Mental health professionals agree that childhood animal cruelty is a serious disorder. If you witness or hear about someone mistreating an animal, call the police or your local humane society.
